Stanmore™ Hip System

There is no debate. Only one hip available today can claim proven clinical success for over 35 years. Simply stated, the Stanmore™ Hip stem is the only femoral component available with clinical results spanning three decades that continues to feature its original geometry, surface finish and material. From the minds of true pioneers, the Stanmore™ stem is the industry's only… timeless design.

Professor John Scales, OBE, and Mr John Wilson, OBE developed the Stanmore Hip System at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, England, and the Institute of Orthopaedics, University of London.

The first Stanmore Hip was implanted in April 1963. The Stanmore Hip is the only hip available today that retains its original geometry and surface finish and has over 20 years successful clinical follow-up. (1,2,3,4,5) The proven design and reproducible,
simple technique has led to survivorship of 91% to 93.5% at 20-22 years.

Features:

  • Surgical choice of either Modular or Monobloc CoCr femoral stems for high strength and optimal bone cement interface

  • PMMA distal centraliser to ensure stem alignment

  • Option of Standard or Straight stems, 5 stem sizes and various neck lengths to ensure best patient fit and function

  • Simple yet comprehensive instrumentation

  • Impaction Allograft System to enable the Stanmore primary stem to be used in revision cases

  • CoCr or Ceramic modular heads articulate against ArCom™ polyethylene cups or Metal on Metal Articulation for minimal wear
